Obituary of Francis Daniel Hughes

Francis “Frank” D. Hughes Obituary 

Francis “Frank” D. Hughes Jr., 74, of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 25, 2023 in Gilbert, Arizona after a heroic 3.5 year battle with lymphoma cancer. Born on March 26, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Joann (Arasin) Hughes.

Frank was a devoted family man. He was married to his beloved wife, Kathy (Spath) Hughes for 51 years. Their love and dedication were an inspiration. Together, they raised two amazing daughters Kat Hughes and Pamela (Kris) Kashimba. Frank adored his precious granddaughter, Riley. He was blessed to have Steve, Callan and Ellie Gotschall in his life. He cherished his closest friends and family Ed Crawford, Cheryl Navalinskas, Dom Frollini and Sallie O’Connor.

Frank graduated from North Catholic High School, Class of 1967. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served on the USS William M. Wood DD715 for four years. Frank loved his time with the Navy serving our country and seeing the world. After his time in the US Navy, Frank worked in construction finance and retired from Uhl Construction in 2015.

Frank was a man who lived life to the fullest. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. He especially loved to share his hobbies with his children, grandchildren and friends. Frank was an active member of the Baden American Legion Post 641 and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Clover Lodge #348. Frank leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and unforgettable stories. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clover Lodge #348, 271 State St., Baden, PA 15005.
