Obituary of Virginia Jones Johnston

Virginia Jones Johnston born December 19, 1930 of Gilbert,AZ passed away peacefully on a fabulous Friday, January 22, 2021. Virginia grew up in the small town of Riverton, Iowa the third child of six from Orval and Anna Jones. After graduating from high school, she worked in Kansas City before returning to Iowa to help out the family when her father suddenly passed away. After 5 years working in the local bank and a desire for adventure she traveled to Colorado Springs and found a banking position where she met her neighbor, soon to be husband. They lived a couple years in California before moving in Arizona to pursue a dream to farm. They lived in a home they built on the farm for 30 years before moving to Val Vista Lakes. When the farm was subdivided into Agritopia, and their home became Joe"s Farm Grill, they decided to move back to the "farm". They were blessed to have 4 generations living in walking distance. Virginia had been married to James (Jim) Johnston for 62 years before his death in 2019. Virginia is survived by her sister Lois Perkins of Iowa, 3 sons Joseph (Cindy), Stephen (Cristy) Paul (Sheryl) 6 grandchildren James (Nadya), William (Ashley), Anna Fisher (Michael), Mark (Lauren) Jacob, April Thomas (Jonathan) and 4 great grandchildren Giuliana, Liam, Atticus and Reef and so many nieces and nephews that she loved so much. She will also be missed by the caregivers who so lovingly served her this past year. Thank you ladies. Virginia enjoyed golf and had been a member and ladies team player at Mesa Country Club and at White Mountains Country Club until in her 80s. The focus of her life was family and service of the Lords" work through the church and in support of many missions. She was a faithful member of Trinity Christian Fellowship. Virginia lived a very happy life and felt so greatly blessed by the grace, mercy and favor God had shown her all the days of her life. Due to Covid-19 no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
